And you can quote me saying "I don't really care if it does. My blog- my rules- you have no say here."
Now with that said- on with the post
Some of the sites I see on the internet about religion make me laugh so hard. People arguing over who is right- who was told by god that this sentence out of the millions in the bible means this or that- who's religion is the right one- what name the higher power goes by (God, Allah, whatever- here after referred to as Higher being) and both sides saying the exact same thing but arguing because one said it one way and the other used different words. Come on people- there are a few universal truths no matter what you call your higher being.
#1- Higher being is loving-and all knowing.
#2- Higher being will take you upon death (what happens afterwards is where things go wacky)
#3- For every higher being there is a Evil lower being (sometimes thought of a physical- sometimes not) and that entity gets blamed for a lot of our own stupidity.
and lastly-
#4-Higher powers will ALWAYS UNTIL THE END OF TIME be a source of disagreements among the "religious"- and a source of laughter among everyone else.
Can't help it, hate me if you must- but you know I'm not lying to you.
Now let me tell you a little about my OWN beliefs- and no I don't care if you agree or not- I will never insult your beliefs- I ask the same of you.
1. My name for my higher power is GOD- thats what I call him. In my mind, I don't care what you call yours- he/she is the same as mine There is only one. You can call a red crayon red, you can call it brick, you can call it bright red, you can call it fire engine red-but if you color on paper and ask a child what color it is, its always going to be RED- thats it, just Red. Same with my God- call him what you want- its still God.
2. If you believe in the higher power you go to heaven when you die. If you reject the belief you go to Hell. Period- there is no in between. There are no special rules, there are no deal breakers. You can't stay here and decide later on.
3. I believe your only held accountable for your life on a sliding scale. Mentality plays a huge part of it. My God is not going to judge an autistic person or mentally challenged person on the same level as he will judge me. Age of accountability is NOT A NUMBER- and IT IS DIFFERENT FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL! Good grief people, its not that you turn 8 or 9 or 10 and are automatically responsible for every bad thing you have ever done in life. Sheesh.
4. My heaven is going to be whatever I want it to be. And I will go into a little detail about that belief. The bible does not talk to much about what is going to be in heaven- how could it, some things that I think would be absolutely Amazing there may not be another persons cup of tea. Could you imagine if Heaven was a Huge circus with clowns and gentle animals everywhere (I LOVE THAT) But what about the people who are scared of clowns? I believe that your own personal room in heaven (which is actually what the verse translates to- in my fathers house are many rooms), anyway- your own personal room in heaven can be anything you want it to be. There is of course the 'common area' where everyone will have the same things, but then you have your own room- which will be as big as the universe if you want it to be- with whatever you want there. Doesn't that sound like Heaven to you?
5. No one is perfect. Don't pretend to be- don't even try to be, you will fall on your face and people will make fun of you. (again hate me if you must- but you know I'm telling the truth-- example- catholic priests- nuff said) All you can do is your best and admit when you make mistakes. People respect you more when you do- why wouldn't God?
And lastly-
6. Faith is not a permanent, guaranteed, life long thing. Do you know how many times in the bible it mentions renewing your faith? Having renewed faith? Being renewed in your faith? I have no idea- but I know its a bunch. Think about Peter- he was standing there in front of Jesus- watching him on the water, knew that Jesus wasn't sinking- and still look what happened to him. RIGHT THERE WITHIN REACH OF JESUS! Good grief- if looking down was all it took for him to lose faith for a minute- what the heck are these people thinking who say faith is always there. DUH!
Fact is- things happen. Life happens- people die- things happen we don't understand- people suffer- people hurt other people- children die- health fails. A million things can happen to make you lose faith for a time. And feeling bad about that is not going to get you anywhere. It happens. Don't sweat it. Just realize the only perfect being is not on Earth- and it definitely ain't you! So have your time of blaming God, have your time of doubt and anger. Then dust yourself off and have a word with him. I don't know about you- but I have children, I know they get mad at me. I know they doubt that what I do is really the best thing for them. I know that they probably blame me for a lot of things. But I still love them. I would still do anything in my power to protect them. Good thing God is all powerful huh? Sometimes we need a lot of protecting... mostly from ourselves.
Have I ever lost faith- again- DUH. I lost a baby at 6-8 weeks pregnant. I still don't understand why. I still get angry with this all powerful God, and I still fuss at him for taking my baby, I still cry when I think of that child at least once a week. And that's been 7 and a half years ago. If that hadn't happened I would not have Donavon, who I conceived 2 months later and I also thank God for everyday. But that doesn't stop it. So yes sometimes my faith in this all powerful all knowing God who took a child from this Earth before it was even born into it, wavers a bit. It's normal. I'm human- if Peter could lose faith standing right in front of Jesus, literally less than 3 feet away- I don't think he expects any more from us. And yes I know it was that close because he reached out and grabbed Peter. Average length of a human males arm is around 3 feet.
Hate me if you must, but just for a minute, Google 'religious forums', go in and have a laugh at all the "bible thumping hypocrites" who talk about the love of God, and loving thy neighbor, while arguing with each other. I put no faith in 'religious' people. After all "religion will send you to hell" (that one is for all my southern baptist readers- you know you have heard that at least a half a million times)
